The rehabilitation journey after a tragic neurological event is often complex and lifelong. The average length of stay in inpatient rehab is only 37 days. Recovery doesn’t stop after leaving the hospital. After discharge, navigating a new world of unknowns and barriers to care can be overwhelming and exhausting.

Turning Recovery into a Mission
On March 9, 2020, a skiing accident changed the Corbett Family’s life forever. At just 15, their son Devon suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. The years that followed have been defined by critical care, hard-won milestones, and a new understanding of what the journey to recovery really demands.
As they navigated Devon’s recovery, they discovered the seemingly endless barriers, fragmented care continuum, and limited access to services that far too many individuals and families experience after leaving the hospital.
The Corbett Family created D1Strong-The Journey,, the fundraising arm of Rise Neurorehab Institute, to create a solution to these gaps in care, providing the specialized post-acute care individuals need to reclaim their lives with dignity and honor
